Balayage Certification FAQs

Find answers to questions about L’Oréal Professionnel’s Balayage Certification.

What is Balayage?

Balayage is a French word meaning "to sweep". Balayage provides stylists an artistic medium for creating dimension, ranging from soft and natural to bold and creative, offering a customized approach to highlighting for each client.

How do I become L’Oréal Professionnel Balayage Certified?

L’Oréal Professionnel’s Balayage Council has created a three-step Balayage certification program. You must attend the following courses, in the following order:
1. Balayage Methods
2. Balayage Techniques
3. Balayage LIVE

Complete these three classes and receive an M.B.A - Master Balayage Artist certificate - in the L’Oréal Professionnel Balayage method. These classes are held at the celebrated L’Oréal Professionnel Academies across the US, located in New York City and Newport Beach.
