    Work off of the client’s natural part. Separate the front from the back using a radial parting from the top of the head to behind each ear. Begin in the back.

    Start in the nape. Take diagonal back sections that are 1 ½ inches in thickness. Paint using a Multi-Point Technique, blurring and feathering the lightener for a soft, seamless end. Use the palm of the hand to fully saturate the ends of the hair.

    In between the two diagonal sections, take a horizontal subsection to create an inverted triangle. Continue working up the back of the head. In the front quadrants, change to diagonal forward sections. Continue using a Multi-Point Technique with 1 ½ inch subsections. Continue working until finishing with the “money-piece” on the hairline.

    Respect the integrity of the hair. Only lighten the hair as much as it will let you. Even though the hair lifted beautifully, I always advise that going lighter may take more than one session.

    Finely weave around the back hairline and apply into a foil, feathering product up to the root. The pattern in this step is followed through the back of the head, up to the crown.

    Starting on the right side, section out a 1” thick inverted triangle, taken diagonally from the right-side hairline and over to the middle of the nape. This triangle (and each after) will be painted in three separate foils.

    Foil 1: Take a thin slice from the top of your inverted triangular section, finely weave a baby light and apply formula, feathering the product up to the root. Clip this foil up and out of the way.

    Foil 2: Take a second weave from the section and feather the product up and farther from the root than the previous foil, then clip foil away.

    Foil 3: Take the remaining hair in the triangle, tease the root and apply lightener. This same 3-foil pattern continues on the left side, and then a third inverted triangle section will be taken straight across the middle, between the first two diagonal sections. Continue this pattern up to the crown.

    Foil 3-5 back to back baby lights diagonally from the front hairline, following the natural fall and parting of the individual hair pattern. The remaining sections will follow the 3-foil pattern from before, but will be take in horizontal sections, going up each side of the head, to the natural parting. Process to pale blonde.

    Alternate formula 1 (highlights) and formula 2 (lowlights) through the whole first section, and then section 2 above it. On the third top section of the diagonal back use formula 1 and paint two light pieces, then right beside it paint one lowlight, finishing these steps through the entire top section. Process for about 15 minutes.

    Rinse out all color thoroughly and then gloss at the bowl in the crown of her head working your way through the mids, then ends. Let the gloss process for 7 minutes before rinsing. Shampoo using Luo Post Shampoo following with Vitamino Color and then Powermix Color to lock in the color.

    Start applying the Balayage with 30-Volume Blond Studio 9 Oil Developer, from the lowest part of the sides, with the “1-point technique” (diagonal application). Use a board for the ends and saturating with more product than in the lengths. Continue this application throughout the crown and sides. Process up to 50 minutes or until desired level of lift is achieved.
